Ageless at 72: Raw Food is the Fountain of Youth

PART 1  |  PART 2 >>

S y n o p s i s

At the age of 72, Annette Larkins proudly showcases her lush garden in her Miami-Dade County backyard, brimming with a variety of fruits and vegetables. Virtually every corner of her garden boasts something edible. Annette attributes the food grown in her garden as her personal "Fountain of Youth." Her philosophy centers around striving for a higher quality of life rather than sheer quantity. She encourages everyone she encounters to embark on a journey towards better health. This is her inspiring story.

Born in Asheville, North Carolina, in 1942, Annette has always claimed Detroit, Michigan, as her hometown, although she has lived in Miami, Florida, for many years. While attending George Washington Carver High School in Coconut Grove, Florida, she met Amos Larkins, Jr., whom she married when she was just sixteen years old in 1958. Two years later, she gave birth to their first son, Amos II, followed by their second son, Anthony, ten months and eighteen days later, just a little over a month after her nineteenth birthday. Annette decided that two children were enough, humorously noting that they were so close in age it was almost like having twins.

When her boys were ten and eleven years old, Annette pursued her passion for singing at a local nightclub in Miami Beach, where she performed for two and a half years. Instead of seeking stardom on a grand scale, she enrolled at Miami-Dade Community College, majoring in liberal arts. Annette graduated with high honors and received the highest achievement award for foreign languages, as Spanish is her second language. She explored a potential career in teaching by working as a substitute Spanish teacher.

Annette also worked as a reservations clerk for an airline, enjoying the benefits of extensive travel. She even had an article published in the airline's in-flight magazine.

During this time, she created a popular salad dressing called "The Little Chef's dressing," which was sold in health food stores. However, she eventually stopped producing it, despite customer demand.

Upon her husband's request, Annette obtained a Property and Casualty Insurance License to complement his Life and Health License, expanding her skillset.

Annette's journey into the world of computers sparked a new fascination and challenge. She built numerous personal computers, becoming adept in this technological field.

Continuing her quest for knowledge and experiences, Annette began creating personal greeting cards, combining her technical expertise with creativity. She also authored a textbook to help her grandson learn to read and excel in first-grade studies.

Her passion for motivating individuals to make positive changes in their lives led her to create a DVD titled "Annette's Raw Kitchen" and booklets titled "Journey To Health" and "Journey To Health 2." Annette realized her calling in the health field and intends to serve in this arena for as long as possible, helping others achieve a healthier lifestyle and discover their inner power.
